5/5/2008: "Corrections Today" Features Reentry, Justice Center Board Members
The April 2008 issue of the American Correctional Association magazine Corrections Today focuses on the benefits of multi-agency criminal justice collaborations—with several articles promoting reentry partnerships in particular. In his commentary, Justin Jones, director of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections and a Justice Center board member, underscores the importance of truly collaborative efforts to any reentry initiative.
In this same issue, Jones co-authored an article with Milwaukee police chief and fellow board member Edward Flynn, which previews Planning and Assessing a Law Enforcement Reentry Strategy, a publication soon to be released by the Justice Center. Jones and Flynn detail law enforcement’s role in a multidisciplinary reentry program and outline 10 elements key to successful initiatives.
Ashbel T. Wall II, director of the Rhode Island Department of Corrections and a Justice Center board member, contributed a third article. Wall describes the accomplishments of corrections, law enforcement, and probation and parole when working as a team to reduce recidivism in several cities in his state. The issue can be accessed online at www.aca.org/publications/ctmagazine.asp.
